Puzzles & Fiction

(formerly known as, in order of recency, 'Puzzles', 'Puzzles & Environment & Fiction', 'Puzzles & Fiction', 'Fiction & Puzzles', 'Puzzles & Comics', 'Misc.', 'Puzzles & Sports', 'Sports & Other', 'Sports')

Anyone can write about what happened last week. What sets this newspaper apart is everything else.

In ten, twenty, a hundred years, today’s headlines will be of interest to no one but historians but the puzzles (and fiction again, in time) will always be there. They never really lose their hold, persisting as if by some occult hand.

There is a community, beyond merely names on the payroll. Weddings, birthdays, or just get-togethers for the hell of it, there’s always an occasion to celebrate and familiar faces to celebrate it with.

The stories keep ticking along, accompanied by the occasional crossword submitted by one I.M. Peculiar and sudokus by Guy Purple.

In a way, this department will never truly die, no matter what happens. Surviving, enduring… haunting, even.
