Manny Manwell
In a darkened theatre, curtains drawn and amid hushes and whispers, the feelings of anticipation looms over the crowd. As they eagerly await the opening trailer of a new cinematic block-buster – suddenly, the lights dim further and the curtains open, as with a big dramatic thud, a set of blocky white letters flashes upon the silver-screen.
THIS SUMMER
A large looming building in the shape of the New Glabe Gazette is presented on screen, from a birds eye point of view, dozens upon dozens of figures flood in and out of the building. Some wearing normal office attire, some flashy sunglasses, a couple of distinctive fedoras – one a flower crown – keen eyed viewers can even spot a small sailor’s cap in there.
BASED ON A TRUE STORY OF WHAT LIFE IN JOURNALISM IS LIKE
The camera shifts and pans to the inside offices of the Gazette – the familiar large open plan of the Gazette's Newsroom coming into view, as all manner of different employees pitch ideas, argue, gossip and drink truly unhealthy doses of coffee.
A STORY OF LOVE, DRAMA, MYSTERIES, GOOSES, AND BROKEN COFFEE MACHINES
A short flash-cut of some truly dramatic and ridiculous moments follow: From an individual wearing a goose mask running around the office, to a dramatic reveal of blackmail being found in one of the department heads' note-books, to a loud and passionate lines of journalists with their fists in the air committing to a strike against a greedy owner, to even a comical mix-up of two identical looking twins.
STARRING THE ICONIC ARGOS STRAND
The scene shifts to a over-dramatic shot of Argos, staring from a corner of The Newsroom with sunlight dramatically reflecting off the sunglasses and wearing a large black leather jacket – extremely familiar in design to the one Manny was so fond of wearing.
AND A DRAMATIC RETURN OF MANUEL MANWELL TO THE SILVER-SCREEN
Dressed in a one-to-one recreation of the same office overalls Sam McDonald was known for, a looming shot of Manny sat on a desk with interfaced fingers, forebodingly looking out of the Editor's Office.
FOLLOW THE ADVENTURE OF TWO ASPIRING JOURNALISTS IN THE CELEBIRTY AND STYLE DEPARTMENT
Dramatic melodies start being blasted from the speakers as the scenes cut to from a plethora – funny and serious – past interactions of Manny with many of the Gazette's journalists.
AS THEY LEARN TO MAKE SENSE OF THIS STRANGE WORLD AROUND THEM.
DISCOVERING A TRULY COLOURFUL CAST AND SOMETHING SPECIAL WITHIN THEMSELVES.
In aesthetic handwritten form, the title of the upcoming release slides onto the screen.
