Esme Miller, MP

An Excerpt from an Article in the New Glabe Gazette

Election Results Out: Workers Majority Shrinks

The Worker Party has won a majority for the second time running. However, unlike their landslide victory in the last election, their share of parliament has reduced to a narrow majority.

One district which saw an increase in vote share is North Ailsa Bank, whose MP, our very own Esme Miller, has been reelected with a large majority. Ms. Miller, a former journalist in the New Glabe Gazette Politics department, is increasingly being recognized as a rising star in the Worker Party, and some are predicting she will be offered a cabinet position soon.

Ms. Miller initially faced some opposition from Worker Party loyalists, who perceived her former work at the New Glabe Gazette to be biased against them and for the Wigs. However, Ms. Miller’s track record during the last parliament has silenced these detractors. She was instrumental in helping the Worker Party to improve its reputation faster than the other political parties, using her journalistic skills to uncover corruption which had taken place within the party while maintaining good intra-party relations. She campaigned on her success in converting the New Glabe Gazette into a co-op. She has also been a vocal advocate for anti-poverty policies, including increasing social security policies and increased investment in public education, as well as challenging increased protection for workers’ rights.
